Serving:3 club sandwiches
For besan chilla:
1/2 cup besan (gram flour)
1 small onion – chopped OR about 1⁄4 cup finely chopped onions
1 small to medium tomato – chopped OR 1⁄3 cup finely chopped tomatoes 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
1/8 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/8 teaspoon red chili powder
1/8 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/3 cup water or add as required
salt as per taste
oil as required
For first layer filling:
1 medium tomato – sliced
1 small to medium cucumber – sliced
For second layer filling:
1⁄3 cup grated or minced cabbage
1⁄3 cup finely chopped capsicum
1⁄3 cup grated carrot
1⁄2 cup grated processed cheese or mayonnaise or half-half of mayonnaise and grated cheese 1 to 2 tablespoons cream – optional
1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 pinch salt
For sandwich chutney:
1 cup tightly packed coriander leaves OR 1⁄2 cup each of mint leaves and coriander leaves 1⁄2 tbsp chaat masala powder
1 or 2 green chilies – chopped
12 bread slices
1 small bowl of sandwich chutney
butter as required
Rinse coriander leaves wash with water then in grinder take 1 cup of coriander leaves, 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala powder, 1 to 2 green chilies (chopped) salt as per taste, add 1 to 2 tbsp water. grind the mixer till it comes as smooth. remove the chutney and keep aside.
Preparing veggie stuffing:
Take 1/3 cup of grated carrot, cabbage, capsicum.
Take above 3 veggies in one bowl add 1/2 cup grated processed cheese.
Season with 1/4 tbsp black pepper add salt if you want. I have not added cheese already have salt.
Mix very well and keep aside. you can also keep it fridge too.
Preparing besan chilla:
Take 1/2 basin in mixing bowl.
Add species like – 1/8 tbsp ajwain (vaamu), 1/8 tbsp turmeric powder, 1/8 tbsp tbsp red chili powder And 1/8tbsp garam masala powder.
Add 1/4 cup finely chopped onions, 1/3 cup finely chopped tomatoes and 1tbsp chopped coriander Leaves. (all should be small pieces).
Add 1/3 cup water or as required.
Mix very well make as smooth batter with out any lumps.
Heat a tawa or pan and spread some oil.
Take some batter with serving spoon and spread to small sized chilla and cook it low flame.
When top side looks cooked spread some oil.
When the base is crisp and looks golden then turn over to cook other side too.
Cook till you see the golden spots on other side.
Now remove and keep aside. Same way prepare all chillas and keep aside.
In the same pan or tawa keep 2 to three bread slices and make them toast on low flame.
Turn over when one side is toasted and toast other side too. If you want you can toast more.
Then spread some butter on 2 toasted bread slices.
Spread some green chutney on 2 the slices and put 3 to 4 slices tomato and cucumber on one slice.
Sprinkle some black pepper and chat masala powder and salt.
Now cover with other slice spread some butter on top of the slice.
Spread the veggies and cheese mixer on this slice.
Cover with third bread slice and spread butter on this slice.
Now place the besan chila. Cover with last or fourth slice. With sharp knife slice the sandwich in four rectangles or two to four triangles.
Do same with remaining 8 bread slices.
Serve tasty club sandwich immediately with tomato ketchup.
